Citizen’s Fire Academy
The Bedford Fire Department offers an opportunity to citizens that live or work in the city to learn more about their fire department. The Academy is offered twice a year and meets one evening per week for twelve weeks. More than twenty informative topics will be instructed by firefighters with some hands-on activities allowing the recruit opportunities to experience the firefighter's job. During and after completion of the class, the recruit will be allowed to ride-out with the firefighters during emergency calls. Recruits must be at least 18 years old, live or work in Bedford to attend the Academy. The tuition is free. The recruit must attend at least nine classes to graduate. Applications are available at each Bedford fire station. Information is available by contacting 817-952-2509.
