Project “Vial of Life”

The “Vial of Life” program is designed to provide medical information to emergency responders during a medical crisis. The “Vial” is part of a kit that includes instructions for use in the home and a motor vehicle, a medical information sheet, a wallet size medical information card, and a “Vial of Life” window sticker. The vial with the user's medical information is to be placed on the top shelf of the customer's refrigerator door and the glove compartment of the motor vehicle. The sticker will be placed on front windows/doors so emergency responders will know to look for the vial.

Wal-Mart Pharmacy will offer to its customers, free-of-charge, the "Vial of Life" kit. The picture below illustrates the contents of the kit:

1 – plastic zip lock bag for contents (not pictured)

2 – vials (medicine bottles/containers with caps)(one for the home and one for the motor vehicle)

2 – medical information sheets (one for each vial)

2 – wallet size medical information cards (one for each vial)

2 – peel and stick window stickers (one for the home and one for the motor vehicle)

Members of the Bedford Fire Department will look for the “Vial of Life” during EMS calls, especially if the patient is unable to communicate or if the “Vial of Life” sticker is displayed.
